Although the positioning may look delicate, the
internal armature is very strong and even the fingers are reinforced with wire. The
blue eyes are hand blown glass and hair is mohair.
The intricate blue, white, violet and gold tail
decoration is not painted but rather is achieved through a painstaking process of
combining, blending and manipulating different colors of polymer clay resulting in a
"millefiori cane" resembling a clay log with the design visible all the way
through.
Each log is then manipulated further in order to
reduce the design to miniature while maintaining the intricate detail. This
particular cane was created just for this piece and was created by combining several canes
into one. The cane is sliced very thin and the slices are positioned individually on
the tail.
After curing, the tail is sanded, buffed and
polished.
Its difficult to capture the essence of this doll
on film or screen. Beautiful from any angle, she expresses a delicate grace and
flowing movement best experienced in person. She would look truly wonderful
displayed on a rotating base.
Certificate of authenticy is included.
