Since my last living grandparent passed away in 2003 I've been thinking a lot about
family, character and our journeys in life.
I made this pendant/ornament using one of my favorite photos of my great-grandmother.
She was about 16 when the photo was taken and went on to live a very interesting,
difficult and honorable life.
I used millefiori to frame the photo and the mirror on the back. The
pendant measures 1.5" x 1/25"
|
 |
Along the same lines, this necklace was made in memory of my dearest grandfather so I
could wear it to his funeral in 2001.
I was devastated by his death and creating this necklace helped me deal with the loss.
The pendant features an image transfer of a favorite photo of him and me together at
the beach.
Since he was an avid fisherman I used fishing lures and tackle to complete the necklace
and the polymer clay frame echoes the lures.

I just love surprises!
This is my 2003 Melbourne Cup hat. The face is sculpted with silicone eyes.
In my hands is a small covered lunchbox with an image transfer of a photo taken by my
husband of my favorite jockey Damien Oliver right after winning the 2002 Melbourne Cup.

Fairy Knob
(Kato Polyclay except for the wing
cane on ceramic knob) |
 |
| This was made for a guild
member who asked that each of us cover a knob for her to use on a beautiful huge wall unit
that was custom built for her home. The
iridescent glitter that makes up the fairy's clothing is violet in color though the scan
makes it appear mostly yellow. |

Paper Promo Box -
As part of the botanical theme the box is shaped like a 2 by 4 using a custom mixed
pearl/gold/silver. I used a mica shift technique to create faux wood and impressions
of various leaves. (The pearlex colors change depending on the angle it is viewed.)
