MyImpishGrin was born rather unexpectedly of despondency and burnout. 

It began as a therapeutic exercise to revive my strangled creative inspiration following a painful dry spell after over-committing myself on commission work. 

I realized if I wanted to avoid taking up residence at the proverbial Funny Farm, I had to find a way to counterbalance the serious and sometimes emotionally stressful nature of my other work.

Feeling deeply depressed and fatigued, I secretly designated an "opposites day" and decided to create something deliberately ugly, silly and rude - the complete and total opposite of what I normally do as a full-time artist.

It was a bit shocking and creepy to see the nasty little peecup fairy come to life.   She looked like she might bite me!  

I didn't know I had it in me and the big surprise was that it was easier than I expected, probably because I didn't think anyone would ever see it.

I had not originally intended to offer these pieces for sale because it is so far from what I thought of as my "real work" but because it is my duty as a woman... I changed my mind! 

Besides for some bizarre reason people seem to like them!

Not wanting to ruin my reputation (either of them) I chose to create MyImpishGrin.

Some of these pieces are punny like the Peecup, Moonshine and Buttsucker Fairies.  Others are actually parodies of my own as well as other work such as the one I like to call the "Fin In The Ass" mermaid. 

Then there are the others that are more a reflection of how I was feeling at the time like the Hangover Fairy courtesy of a St Patty's Day party and the Caffeine Fairy which was an Income Tax Deadline Hallucination.  

Fortunately for me the Condom Fairy is merely my wicked sense of humor coming out and not a reflection of personal experience!

All were created with tongue firmly in cheek which is another reason why I only do this very part-time. 

As you can imagine, a sprained tongue can be problematic particularly when trying to keep a speeding ticket from being converted to a DUI!

"Nah!  Weeowee offiduh, Ah habump bem binkung!"

Currently these humorous, punny and sometimes rude, one-of-a-kind dolls are available exclusively on ebay.

The feedback I get is that they are a nice change from what else is out there and hopefully will help all of us not to take ourselves too seriously. 

Although I am concentrating mainly on my other work, which I'm happy to say is going very well, I still have a lot of ideas for MyImpishGrin and have received some great suggestions for future pieces.

So for now, I suppose I'll keep on doing these funny little pieces every now and then until I lose my sense of humor or my heartbeat, whichever comes first!
