Opal Wing Faerie           

"A Celebration of Spring", this elegant one-of-a-kind original Faerie art doll is the very latest offering from the heart and hands of sculptor Lorie O Follett.

She measures approximately 8.5" from top of head to pointed toe and would be about 9.25" if standing.  

She was lovingly sculpted in polymer clay (ProSculpt) over a sturdy wire armature which extends all the way through her delicate looking highly detailed fingers.

 

Her bodice is sculpted directly onto her body in translucent polymer clay and embellished with Aurora Borealis Swarovski Crystals and pearl powders. The lavender skirt is created from silk flower petals with an eye toward the suggestion of movement and embellished with tiny pale blue Potentia silk flowers.

Her hair is a rich dark brunette viscose and her wings are meticulously and painstakingly handmade with a vibrant transparent opal look whose colors dance and change in the light.

Inspired in great part by the recent Olympic silver medal performances of ice skater Sasha Cohen this lovely Faerie hangs from a near invisible monofilament thread running through a small loop in the top of her head which is concealed by her hair allowing her to twirl in a perfectly graceful spin.

Displayed using a slow rotating motor such as turns a disco ball this gorgeous Faerie would become a remarkable focal point of any gallery  or personal collection.
